It is an awesome responsibility when you are deciding to by your home. As a consumer, there are many questions that you have and that need answered before your final decision. Some answers to questions that might be on your mind in pursuing your dream home ownership are given below:
1. Finding the right location for your family and you to live sounds easy. Sometimes it is not. Try to find an acceptable neighborhood in a location that is centered amongst your work, school, church and friends. A first glimpse of a home that your family and you have “fallen in love with” might seem like an ideal place during all of the excitement. But, if work is an hour away, think realistically about that twice daily commute.
2. An approval of a loan for a certain amount does not mean that you have to buy a home for that amount. A less expensive house can be bought. If you are thinking about buying a more expensive house to meet your approved loan amount, think really hard first. Sit down and review your expenses. A loan is money owed. Can you really afford a tighter budget? Can you still save regularly? Is the monthly mortgage payment going to strap you for cash? These are serious questions that need to be logically considered before signing for that larger loan.
3. A big mistake that people do make is to buy furnishings for their new home before the loan has been approved. Many times this will cause your debt ratio to be too high and the loan might not be approved. It is best purchasing big ticket items until after your loan closes and you are living in your new home. Try not to do anything that changes your financial status or your credit report during this time period.
These are some important things to remember when looking to buy your home. There are some “don’ts” that every consumer should know about before they start the beginning process.
